Bayon - was likely the final large-scale temple complex initiated at Angkor.


Prasat Bayon, as known by locals, is a monument with most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces, with current only 37 towers presently preserved  from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak, it was once more than 50 towers.

The temple is well known for two impressive sets of bas-reliefs which present an unusual combination of mythological, historical, and mundane scenes. The main conservatory body, the Japanese Government Team Safeguarding of Angkor (known as JSA) has described the temple as "the most striking expression of the baroque style" of Khmer architecture, as contrasted with the classical style of Angkor Wat.

1.23 million international tourists visited Angkor 2017..


Revenue from ticket sales to foreigners visiting Cambodia's Angkor Archeological Park reached USD 52.1 million in the first six months of 2017, up by 66.8% compared to the same period last year.

The 12th century site received 1.23 million foreign tourists during the January-June period this year, up 12.9 percent over the same period last year, said the state-owned Angkor Enterprise's press release.

Some of the top international tourists visited the park are Chinese, South Koreans and Americans.This remarkable rise in revenue was due to the hike in ticket prices since February 2017. 

A current entrance fee to the site is USD37 for a one-day visit, USD62 for a three-day pass, and USD 72 for a week-long pass. Thee heritage site located in northwest Cambodia's Siem Reap province, Angkor Archeological Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1992, is the kingdom's most popular tourist destination.
